David started playing the piano at the age of six. His first accompanying jobs came as he was entering his teens, and he continued to gain experience whilst at Alcester Grammar School. He gained his degree in music with honours from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, in 2000, having studied under Simon Shewring with additional lessons and masterclasses from Richard McMahon, Julian Jacobson, Keith Tippett and Wayne Marshall.

He has now performed across all five continents; South Africa with the Welsh Association of Male Choirs, Hong Kong and the USA with the Black Mountain Male Chorus, the Czech Republic with the Peter Singers and Cardiff Arms Park Male Choir, Northern Cyprus with Dowlais Male Choir, Jersey, Spain and Ireland with Pontarddulais Male Choir, Argentina and the USA with the Comrades Choir and New Zealand and Australia (including accompanying on both piano and organ in Sydney Opera House) with the British and Irish Lions Male Choir.

David was principal accompanist of Pontarddulais Male Choir for five years, and accompanied them to victory at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod in 2004, and the Royal National Eisteddfodau in 2003, 2004 and 2006.

He has played with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Symphony Orchestra and Wind Band, and played keyboards for Peter Karrie. He has also accompanied the London Welsh Male Voice Choir and Wessex Male Choir.

David's work accompanying soloists has taken him around the UK and on a Baltic cruise (accompanying Anthony Stuart Lloyd), and has been seen on BBC1 and BRT2 (Cyprus) television. He has accompanied Katherine Jenkins, Shân Cothi, Beverley Humphreys and Sian Hopkins, and been seen accompanying choirs on Television Torrevieja (Spain) and the Biography Channel (USA).
